Get to know the newlyweds:
How did you both meet?
Sunny: We got together during the pandemic. Then he proposed to me after living together for about a year.
How long were you engaged for?:
Sunny: We had been engaged for almost 2 years. Because we are an international couple who met in a third country - NZ, it was hard to set the date for all families available since they needed to fly to NZ.
What was your vision for your wedding?
Sunny: When we started to talk about wedding stuff, Tony and I agreed that we wanted something interesting, and summery rather than the classic style. it made us decide to have our big day on Waiheke island.
How did you find Indigo Waiheke?
Sunny: I saw your Instagram, it was exactly what we were looking for! Colourful and summery! And the cherry on the top was the good reviews as well 😄
What was the highlight of your wedding day?
Tony: The highlight moment for me was seeing Sunny walking down the aisle.
Sunny: For me, when Tony said his vows in Korean - which made my family surprised and happy, they erupted in applause. It was the moment when his one month of practicing Korean paid off!
What are your hopes for your marriage going forward?
Sunny: Our hope for marriage is very simple “Stay in marriage happily and forever!❤️”
A word from our stylist:
Sunny and Tony came to us with a super fun idea of what they wanted their elopement to feel like. They wanted a joyful day, full of colour and beauty. Together, we worked on the full planning of their elopement, figuring out their venue by going on site visits together and working out the logistics during a 6 month period.
Styling their wedding day was a dream because they gave us full creative license to put together the aesthetics, meaning we were able to implement some stunning details such as their custom fabric sign which gently blew in the breeze, bright florals in their desired colour scheme, customised menus and name cards with hand frayed ribbon. The lovely thing about elopements is that because the guest numbers are smaller, we can really go all out on the little details, handmaking things in house brings us so much joy.
Couples like this are just a dream to work with; they totally trusted the process and were able to relax knowing that everything was being taken care of by local professionals.
On the day, watching this stunning couple say their vows was an emotional moment for everyone. Sunny's family had made the journey all the way from Korea to witness this moment, and Tony had learnt Korean for a month to be able to say his vows to Sunny in her native language - the sweetest gesture of his love!
We truly wish you both a lifetime of happiness as Mr and Mrs, thank you both for trusting us with your elopement, it was a pleasure.
