How did you get into performing at weddings? and what sparked your passion for this industry?
It all began with our shared love for music and performing together. We started out playing local venues and events, building our skills and repertoire along the way. The opportunity to perform at weddings came quite naturally to us. We realised weddings were incredibly special occasions where music plays a significant role in creating unforgettable memories. We pride ourselves on our ability to connect with the audience, and this makes us a perfect fit for wedding celebrations. What truly sparked our passion for the wedding industry was the joy and love that permeates these events. Being able to contribute to such a meaningful day in a couple's life is incredibly rewarding.
Why do couples choose you for their wedding music/entertainment?
Our fun set list of sing-a-longs that gets everyone dancing is a major draw for couples looking to create a lively and memorable atmosphere at their celebration. With a carefully curated mix of older classics and newer hits, we ensure that our music appeals to guests of all ages, guaranteeing a full dance floor throughout the night. Our ability to connect with the audience is unparalleled, as we thrive on engaging with guests and creating an inclusive and interactive experience. We are also incredibly versatile. Our three-part female harmonies also lend us to smaller, more intimate sets for that added romance, perfect for ceremonies and canapés. Additionally, our reputation for being easy to deal with in communication makes the planning process stress-free for couples, allowing them to enjoy the lead-up to their big day. Being a local band to the island further enhances our appeal, as we bring a sense of community and familiarity that resonates with both the couple and their guests, adding a special touch to the overall wedding experience.
What's your top choice song for the First Dance at a wedding? Has this changed much over the past five years?
We don't have a top choice! We have played a lot of different first dance songs over the last 5 years. We understand every couple has their special song, and we do our best to be able to play the couple's choice, with enough prior notice.
What is your favourite genre of music to play at weddings? Why?
Our favourite genre to play at weddings is undoubtedly versatile and diverse, but anything that gets you and your guests up and dancing! Our sets consist of various genres to cater to the wide range of tastes and preferences found at weddings. We enjoy incorporating a mix of genres such as pop, rock, soul, funk, jazz, and even some classic hits to create a dynamic and engaging setlist. This eclectic approach allows us to keep the energy high, the dance floor packed, and the atmosphere lively throughout the celebration.
Do you have any advice for couples planning a wedding on Waiheke?
As a band that has performed at numerous weddings on Waiheke, this is our advice to make a wedding day even more special:
1. Enjoy the moment: Your wedding day will fly by, so be sure to take moments throughout the day to pause, breathe, and take in all the love and joy around you.
2. Trust your vendors: You've chosen your vendors for a reason, so trust their expertise and let them do what they do best. This will help alleviate stress and allow you to fully enjoy your day.
3. Communicate your vision: Be clear and open in communication with your vendors, including us, your band. This will help ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards creating the wedding you've always dreamed of.
