How did you get started in the wedding/event industry?

Free Range Chef was sprung from our Executive Chef, Stephen Weeks 13 years ago, and his desire to offer cuisine free from the normal restraints of a typical catering company. 
Having built a skill set from extensive experience in many countries, Stephen likes to fully utilize his talents and those of his staff to offer a range of unique packages and services.

What sets you apart from other catering companies?

We offer a full-service catering experience from food, to event planning giving a flawless well executed event with exceptional service and cuisine. We provide an events coordinator to plan all the details for our events. We also provide wait and bar staff as well as beverages and have a liquor licence. We can do as much or as little as the client would like based on their budget.

What budget advice would you give a Bride and Groom looking into catering?

Have a realistic idea of the kind of budget you would like to spend on food, bearing in mind that food prices have risen a lot in the past couple of years. Keep in mind that if you want your wedding to have flawless service that we need to have the right number of wait/bar staff and a Supervisor to run the event flawlessly.

What is your style of food?

We offer many styles: from canapes, grazing platters and grazing tables, to shared plates family style feasts, gourmet BBQ’s, food stations, walk and fork and buffets.

Do you have any advice for couples planning a wedding on Waiheke?

 It’s about making the logistics simple and easy to follow. At Free Range Chef we are equipped to handle all details of your wedding, leaving you to enjoy the whole experience stress-free and ensuring you get to enjoy your special day
